In 2018, Breitbart shared with us a report from a CNN reporter about the alleged killing of a Black man by white police officers in Dallas, Texas.
This story, and several others, were published in a segment titled, ‘Police kill Black man in Dallas; Black woman on video.’
The story was based on an investigation by ABC News that reported on a white police officer shooting a Black male man in the back.
The segment featured an eyewitness who said that she witnessed the shooting of the Black man, named as Dontre Hamilton, and the footage of the incident.
However, this report was widely criticized for its lack of facts and inaccuracies.
We published the segment on June 12, 2018, just days before the shooting and several days after the White House issued a statement calling for a federal investigation into the Dallas shooting.
We asked for your input and provided the video and transcript.
We also asked that you contact the CNN Executive Producer to provide further context about the circumstances surrounding this shooting.
On June 12 and June 15, 2018 we reached out to the reporter, Dana Bash, who shared the video, transcript, and story with us.
We did not receive a response.
In the aftermath of the shooting, we contacted the White Senate office and they asked for additional information about what happened in Dallas.
We were informed that the White Senators office did not respond to our requests for additional details.
We reached out again on June 16, 2018 to the Dallas Police Department, which has a very large police force and a number of officers who are African American.
We requested more information about the incident, and our request was answered in an email that was signed by Chief David Brown.
The following day, CNN and ABC News shared an edited version of the transcript and video with us, along with a statement from the Dallas Mayor.
We then contacted the Department of Justice, who also responded to our request for additional data.
At this time, we have no information to corroborate the account presented by the Dallas police, and we have asked that the Department investigate the matter.
In a statement to Breitbart News, Brown said: The statement provided by the Mayor of Dallas is false.
The statement by the White Mayor of the city of Dallas has been edited to provide additional context.
The Mayor of Denton, Texas, has offered an official statement.
The Dallas Police Chief has said he does not recall the exact circumstances of the events.
The city of Fort Worth, Texas did not return our request to confirm the events described in the mayor’s statement.
