The Cleveland Browns announced Thursday that the team has signed wide receiver Jared Veldeheer to a one-year contract.
The signing is a surprise because Veldhleer has been in and out of the Browns’ lineup since the start of training camp last season.
The Raiders will now use Veldehere’s $4 million roster bonus on a fifth-round pick in 2018.
Veldehemers new deal will pay him $500,000 in incentives and incentives will count against the $3 million franchise tag.
Veldeheer, a second-round selection in 2016 out of Iowa, caught 67 passes for 1,829 yards and 11 touchdowns last season for the Browns.
He will be a free agent after the 2018 season.
Veldaheer was a late addition to the Browns roster this season after receiving a $10,000 signing bonus in December.
He spent the first six weeks of the season with the Browns before being moved to receiver in early September.
He caught eight passes for 79 yards in his return to the team.
